ElfBar have made a swift move into the refillable vaping industry, following their dominance in the now-banned disposable vape market. Their move into the market was only helped by their extensive knowledge and experience with disposable vapes and nic salt e-liquid, making them a huge player as soon as they started out.
With a strong range of different kits, the ElfX Mega is their most powerful vape kit thus far. Very appropriately named, the ElfX Mega is a large and powerful device for vaping maximilists.
In this blog, I'll address my own experience and thoughts on this device, as well as whether or not I think it's right for you.
About The ElfBar ElfX Mega: Mega Battery With Mega Flavour
ElfBar's largest offering across the ElfX range sees a size-up, which on immediate instinct, feels great to hold. This is much different to other ElfBar vape kits, most particularly their disposable vapes, which were often quite compact and a cheap-feeling build.
Comparatively, the ElfX Mega takes the best features from the disposable lines - these being strong flavour and large puff counts, turning them into a more permanent device with a much better and solid build.
If you're wondering why the ElfX Mega is such a large build, it's due to its huge 2,800 mAh battery capacity. This is double that of many other vape kits on the market, making it much longer-lasting.
ElfBar are also explicitly known for their flavour boosting tech in their kits, as well as a diverse flavour range. The ElfX Mega especially shines in catering to both, with QUAQ technology and compatibility with all 50-50 freebase and nic salt e-liquids.

Look & Feel
The obvious thing to note on immediate inspection is the size of the device. While it's not overly large, it's clearly bigger than other Elf devices, for good reason. This doesn't get in the way of the kit's daily functionality, as it still fits quite comfortably in your hand.
The size is a little less appealing when day-to-day carrying is considered, however. Although it didn't get in the way for me, the huge battery has to be appropriated somehow, and that happens to be through the device's size. If you're a pocket hoarder, do keep this in mind, as this device is slightly larger than most.
On the side of the device there is a screen, communicating battery level, mode and other functions. A button is right underneath, allowing you to efficiently adjust it. Personally I'd prefer the screen being on front, like most devices, but when you're working with a 2,800 mAh battery there's likely not much room to work around. -
Functionality
If you're unaware of ElfBar's hold on the vaping industry, you may have been living under a rock. ElfBar are huge on flavour enhancement in their kits, both refillable and in their disposable kits, and this one is no different.
The ElfX Mega pods (differentiated from the original ElfX pods) are equipped with QUAQ tech, ensuring strong flavour hits with every puff. This carries across the whole of the battery life, and while it's unlikely you'll see the battery run low, hits will be just as strong until you're about to run dry.
Using the device is fairly simple. While it's not as simple as a disposable, it's navigable. There is an airflow valve up front which can be adjusted with ease, and the screen on the side of the kit is optional to use, though the power modes are relatively simple to understand.
Though I'd recommend the features more towards intermediate and above level vapers, if you've used ElfBar products before and are open to learning their functions, this device can pass as usable without the menu functions.
Getting Set Up: How To Use ElfX Mega Cartridges
The ElfX Mega will come with an 0.6ohm pod, perfect for sub-ohm vaping. The pod is pre-attached, though you will need to remove the sticker on the bottom of the pod before use.
To use an ElfX Mega pod, follow the steps below:
- Remove the pod from the vape kit battery
- Peel the protective sticker located on the bottom of the pod
- Locate the fill port on the side of the vape pod
- Insert your e-liquid bottle into the fill port, squeezing gently and ensuring to not overfill
- Close the filling port and reinsert the pod, leaving 5-10 minutes for the e-liquid to soak
Ohms & Watts: ElfX Mega Pods Explained
The ElfX Mega is unique in only catering towards sub-ohm vaping. There are only two pod options available, namely the 0.6ohm pod included with the device, and 0.8ohm pods.
Upon inserting the pod, your device will automatically adjust to the pod it's using, though you can adjust the settings yourself using the button on the pod, if dissatisfied.
The pod options are as follows:
0.6ohm ElfX Mega Coil
As included with the device, the 0.6ohm coil is your ideal companion for vaping with nic salts. Flavours across the ElfBar range, or any of our own such as EDGE nic salts will work a treat with the 0.6ohm QUAQ mesh coil. This coil will provide minimum throat hit, much like disposable vapes, following the classic ElfBar formula. Although the usual included pod with most kits is 0.8ohms, we'd still suggest giving 0.6 a try, especially if you've used disposable vapes before, as it will closely replicate this experience.
0.8ohm ElfX Mega Coil
The 0.8ohm coil still works best with nic salts, but can, in a pinch, work with freebase 50-50 e-liquid too. For nic salt users looking for a little less intensity, or a slightly notable throat hit, 0.8ohm bridges this gap. It may also be preferable for 0.8ohm coil users, who don't want to step down to a lower resistance. I found the difference wasn't too drastic, seeing as nic salts don't give off a huge throat hit, but ultimately, the option for 0.8ohms is available.

Tailoring Your Vaping Experience With The ElfX Mega
The ElfX Mega is quite customisable, with power settings and airflow adjustment available.
- Eco Mode - Lower intensity, but longer battery life, ideal for when running low
- Normal Mode - The standard mode providing a mix between long battery and strong flavour
- Turbo Mode - Extra strong flavour, at the cost of slightly more power
Usability: ElfBar ElfX Mega Battery Level
As mentioned throughout the blog, and is clear from the unique size and design of the device, the ElfX Mega is all about battery life. With a 2,800mAh battery, it will easily last several days of use before needing a charge.
Similarly, with big battery comes a long charge time. The ElfX Mega will take up to 2 hours to charge to full. This is quite extreme for vape kits, but rest assured that you won't need to charge it often. For me, the tradeoff of charging once and being done feels more convenient than several charges.
Vape Juice Options: Which E-Liquid Works Best With The ElfBar ElfX Mega Vape Kit?
Since the ElfX Mega only has two coil options, both being sub-ohm, it's safe to say the ElfX Mega is best tailored towards nic salt vaping. The 0.8ohm coil can work with freebase 50-50 e-liquid, but overall, I'd certainly recommend this device with nic salt e-liquids.
I tried several of EDGE's nic salts with this device and found they work perfectly with the QUAQ tech implemented into ElfBar coils. Sweeter flavours across the EDGE nic salt range, such as EDGE Apple Crumble nic salts work great with the 0.6ohm coil provided.
If using freebase e-liquid, 0.8 upwards will work with the EDGE core range, but other vape kits with more coil options may be preferable. Nonetheless, if using the 0.8ohm with flavours such as EDGE Blackcurrant, the QUAQ tech will provide a nice flavour boost.
High-VG e-liquids aren't best compatible with this device. Even with the 0.6ohm coil, we'd suggest opting for a device that has access to 0.4ohm coils for the best experience.

Summary: Should You Buy The ElfBar ElfX Mega Vape Kit?
If you're a nic salt enthusiast, or have used ElfBar products in the past, I'd certainly suggest the ElfX Mega is worth trying out. Even more so if you find your battery running dry and struggle preparing - admittedly like myself. The huge battery size is the main selling point of this kit, alongside the standard quality promised by ElfBar products.
The trade-off of compact for long battery life is absolutely worth it in my opinion, and despite the size-up, it's still very much an easily portable device.
At the mid-range price of £19.99, this is a very solid kit. Offering great compatibility with nic salts, alongside the clear and obvious benefit of a huge battery life. If you prefer the peace of mind that comes with a long-lasting battery, it's certainly worth considering the ElfX Mega as a vape kit. When considering this, alongside the QUAQ mesh coils and consistent flavourful hits, it's a more than worthwhile investment.
I'd recommend the ElfBar ElfX Mega to any nic salt or disposable vapers, as well as anyone who wants to try nic salts in a device built exactly for them.
