Vaporesso's Xlim range has seen a lot of success over the years, with each rendition being an improvement on the prior. The Xros 5 Nano is the latest rendition as of writing this blog, combining the premium features of the device with a new compact look and feel.
In this blog I'll address my own experience with the new Vaporesso Xros 5 Nano, outlining the pros and cons and ultimately, if it's right for you.
About The Vaporesso Xros 5 Nano: Compact And Convenient
Vaporesso are one of the biggest brands in vaping, known for offering premium vape kits. Their Xros range is a testament to this, with every kit building on the last.
The Xros 5 Nano takes the best aspects of the Xros 5 and packs them into a compact and efficient kit. Comparing it to past Xros devices I've used, including the original Xros 5, the inclusion of a 1.09" touchscreen is an immediate upgrade, compared to the 0.88" that the original is equipped with.
The clear standout is the unique shape and design of the kit itself. Though not similar to the motions of smoking, which some users prefer, it's comfortable to use in its own way and is compact for storing. I don't often carry bags, so the extra compactness was appreciated.
Overall, I like the unique ergonomics of the device, but your thoughts and experience may differ.

Look & Feel
On immediate inspection you'll note that the Xros 5 Nano looks quite different to most vape kits. This isn't just a gimmick to the device, but rather a smart combination between convenience and function. When in use, it's comfortable to hold and when out of use, it's very easy to store away.
Throughout my time testing the kit, I saw the benefit of its compactness, most notably as I don't tend to carry baggage anywhere and rely solely on pockets.
Due to the small and compact size it felt comfortable enough to use as an all-day vape. Though different to most devices, there's certainly an appeal and marketability for trying something a bit different. The familiar shape of e-cigarettes mimicking tobacco cigarettes can play to an advantage for past smokers, but if you're indifferent to this, it may be worth considering what feels better to hold and use. -
Functionality
Being part of Vaporesso's Xros range, I knew off the bat I'd be working with a reliable kit, and the Xros 5 Nano delivered. Very similar in function to the Xros 5, the Xros 5 Nano has a wide selection of power and functional settings. This includes wattage adjustment settings, or even simple mechanics such as UI themes. The device is equipped with 29 individual themes, meaning there's something for everyone.
The pod system benefits from new Corex 3.0 technology, ensuring stronger flavour, more effective heating and longer pod lifespan.
Getting Set Up: How To Use Xros Cartridges
The Xros 5 Nano arrives with two cartridges. One should be pre-installed into the device and the other packaged seperately. These come in 0.8 and 0.6ohms resistance respectively. Both are ideal for use with nic salts and the 0.8ohm pod can be used effectively with freebase e-liquid. EDGE also stocks 1.0 and 1.2ohm pods, best used with freebase.
To use an Xros 5 Nano pod, follow the below steps:
- Remove the pod from the kit if already attached
- Peel the protective sticker located on the bottom of the pod
- Remove the mouthpiece, revealing a top-fill port
- Insert your e-liquid bottle into the fill port, squeezing gently and ensuring to not overfill
- Close the filling port and reinsert the pod, leaving 5-10 minutes for the e-liquid to soak
Ohms & Watts: Xros 5 Nano Pods Explained
The Vaporesso Xros 5 Nano is ideal for MTL and RDTL vaping styles, with a range of coil options fitted to suit the device. Pods benefit from new Corex 3.0 technology, increasing pod efficiency in features such as longevity, flavour and vapour production.
When a pod is inserted, the device will automatically adjust wattage according to your ohm resistance. From there onwards, you may alter your wattage through power modes. If using the 0.4ohm pod, you can also change through precise wattage adjustments.
The pod options are as follows:
0.4ohm Xros Pro Coil
The 0.4ohm Xros Pro coil is uniquely different than other Xros coils. The lowest resistance coil available, 0.4ohms allows precise wattage adjustment and the smoothest inhale with this device. It works best with nic salts, utilising Corex 3.0 tech with full device freedom. In a pinch, it will work with high-VG e-liquid, though in my experience if you are using high-VG full-time, I'd suggest a device tailored exclusively towards sub-ohm vaping.
0.6ohm Xros Coil
Included with the device, the 0.6ohm coil is a great option for nic salts, tailored further towards sub-ohm vaping. Where 0.8ohms is the most universally popular coil, 0.6 is a good option for vapers looking to try a slightly more powerful hit, whilst not being as intense or power-hungry as the 0.4 measurement. It's a good inclusion with the device, allowing vapers to try a different mode without straying too far from the norm.
0.8ohm Xros Coil
0.8ohms is the most popular coil available for this device, being the pod that arrives attached and is most intended to be used for a first-time user. This is due to its versatility with nic salts and freebase e-liquid, allowing a flavourful taste and middle-range throat hit. I spent most of my use with this coil, and while it worked great with both types of e-liquid, nic salts such as our own EDGE Strawberry, Raspberry & Cherry Ice work very well with this ohm resistance.
1.0ohm Xros Coil
If you're a freebase user, 1.0ohms will move towards the range best suited for you. Although still leaning on the brink of sub-ohm vaping, 1.0ohms still gives a slight throat hit with freebase e-liquid, whilst retaining strong flavour. Our EDGE Core range works great with the 1.0ohm coil, and in my own experience, the Coconut e-liquid worked great.
1.2ohm Xros Coil
The highest available resistance coil available, 1.2ohms is best reserved for freebase, as it will slightly mute the double-concentrated flavours offered by nic salts. Offering a closer sensation to that of smoking, 1.2ohm has a stronger throat-hit and works well with higher nicotine strengths.
Tailoring Your Vaping Experience With The Xros 5 Nano
The Xros Nano 5 leaves a lot of room for customisation, from device themes to vaping settings. As mentioned, the 0.4ohm coil allows you to tailor wattage by the digit, and is the most versatile option by far for a customisable experience. The other pods utilise the Xros 5 Nano's pre-set power modes:
- Eco Mode - Less intensity with the benefit of using less power and allowing for longer battery life
- Normal Mode - The most standardised mode, allowing the traditional Vaporesso vaping experience
- Power Mode - Stronger intensity and flavours, but prone to using more power and battery life
Usability: Vaporesso Xros 5 Nano Battery Level
Battery life is consistently communicated through the screen display, providing an accurate measure from 1-100% battery throughout use. This is much more beneficial than LED power displays, where a yellow light can possibly mean anything from 30-70 charge. Full clarity on charge level meant that where I was in a pinch, I could still be confident that my battery won't suddenly plummet to the red.
With a 1,600mAh battery, I had no trouble with battery shortages, with the normal mode consistently lasting me a full day on every charge.
Vape Juice Options: Which E-Liquid Works Best With The Vaporesso Xros 5 Nano Vape Kit?
With a strong range of coil options, the Xros 5 Nano is very versatile in what e-liquid it can use, provided you're using the correct coil with it.
The most clear option is nic salts, which can be used with all pods, but most effectively with the 0.4-0.8ohm coils. As mentioned prior, I used the Strawberry, Raspberry & Cherry Ice nic salt e-liquid with it and found that it brought out the flavours perfectly.
If using freebase e-liquid, 0.8 upwards will make for a great experience with any of our EDGE core range. While options such as our Very Menthol e-liquid remain popular, I'd certainly recommend trying a fruity option like EDGE Cherry e-liquid, to bring out the maximum from the Corex 3.0 tech.
High-VG e-liquids are best compatible with the 0.4ohm coil, and though this device doesn't fully cater to them, you can get away with vaping them at high settings. I tried the EDGE Elite Raspberry HVG e-liquid at maximum settings with a 0.4ohm coil and found it worked well.

While the design and feeling of the kit itself is quite unique, most users, myself included, find it to be quite comfortable to use. Particularly useful as a daily kit, it's especially handy in being compact and easy to carry, regardless of the occasion.
At £26.99, you're looking at one of Vaporesso's most innovative kits to date. Vaporesso are known for being one of the premium vaping companies and their Xros range is a huge aspect of their status. If you've used Xros kits before you'll be well aware of how reliable and powerful they can be, and if not, it's certainly a great upgrade or new kit to work with.
