Aspire PockeX Vape Kit Review
In this review we will take a closer look at the Aspire PockeX Pen vape kit. This timeless design has resonated with UK vapers like no other, remaining a top-selling kit since it launched all the way back in 2016!
Vape kits, like many other tech items, move quickly and don't always remain popular for long as newer and more advanced versions are released. The PockeX all-in-one vape pen has bucked that trend for nearly a decade, remaining a popular choice for vapers of all kinds.
Read on to explore the pros, cons and best features of the PockeX so you can decide for yourself if you want to give this classic vape pen a try for yourself!

About The Aspire PockeX: A Timeless Design That Vapers Love
The Aspire brand has been a mainstay of the vaping world for as long as we can remember. They have released countless vape kits of all shapes and sizes, from high-powered box mods to compact pod kits, and earned a reputation for dependability, consistent design and performance.
One device stands out from their extensive portfolio - The Aspire PockeX. This classically styled, all-in-one pen vape kit has outlasted pretty much everything else that has been released in the last 10 years.
Coming in at only £18.99, its timeless design incorporates a 2ml vape tank and a powerful 1500mAh battery into a single, compact unit. Its single-button interface keeps things super simple for beginners, with no complex menus or settings to be found.
That doesn't mean more experienced vapers should avoid the pockeX, however, as it takes its all-in-one title seriously. With versatile coil options available, this kit can handle 50-50 freebase e-liquids, nic salts, and even thicker High-VG vape juice, making it a very versatile device.
Simplicity and versatility, paired with impressive performance are the main reasons the PockeX has stood the test of time. In a market now saturated with pod vape kits that become obsolete every few months, the PockeX stands out as a tried-and-tested vaping platform that has earned it's place in vapers' hearts.

Look & Feel
The PockeX feels great in your hand, it's weighty enough to feel premium, but not cumbersome. The metal alloy encasing the battery adds to the premium feel even more, and the different colourways really pop.
That metal housing has an added benefit vs plastic kits, in that it really can stand up to knocks and drops with ease. Having used a PockeX for two years earlier in my vaping journey, I can verify that it got absolutely battered and just kept working, even with a few scratches and dents.
It only has one button, for turning the device on and off, and firing the kit when active. This makes it sleek and easy to carry in a pocket or bag.
Over time, the paint can chip away a little, which is worth noting if you are a style-conscious vaper.
Overall, the rounded pen-style design looks and feels great to hold and use, and it's compact 12cm height makes it an ideal travel companion.

Functionality
The PockeX is very user-friendly, with only one button to turn the device on, off and fire it up (five clicks-on, five clicks-off).
The power is set automatically according to the resistance of your chosen coil, so you don't need an understanding of watts and ohms to get the most from this kit.
Changing coils is arguably the most complex thing about the PockeX, and even that is kept simple. Aspire's design allows you to swap coils without even draining the tank, which is very handy compared to similar pen-style kits.
This is achieved by having the coils attach to the top cap of the device itself, so when you remove it, you simply swap out the coils and screw the cap back into place with the fresh coil attached.
Refilling the PockeX is super easy because of this same design, and there is a clear max-fill line to help you avoid overfilling and flooding the device.
The PockeX blends unique design features and a simple interface to deliver an experience that suits both beginners and experienced vapers alike.

Getting Set Up: How To Use PockeX Coils
Right out of the box, you will have the 0.6ohm PockeX coil pre-installed in the device. Aspire's U-Tech coil design allows air to pass through twice, enhaning vapour and flavour delivery, with a decent lifespan depending on your chosen vape juice - I personally found this kit works best with nic salt e-liquids, but the 0.6ohm coil can handle thick High-VG vape juice too.
PockeX coils can be changed really easily without having to empty the tank, which helps avoid wasting e-liquid. This sets it apart from most other all-in-one kits, which need to be drained before the coil can be changed.
To Change A PockeX Coil:
- Unscrew the top cap from the tank.
- Unscrew the old coil from the top cap and discard responsibly.
- Screw the new coil into the top cap.
- Drop some of your chosen e-liquid onto the exposed wicking ports of the new coil to prime it.
- Screw the top cap with fresh coil back onto the tank.
- Top-up the tank if necessary, allow a moment for the coil to absorb some e-liquid (longer if not primed)
- Now You're ready to vape!
PockeX coils might look a little old-school to pod vaping fans, but their design ensures they can deliver flavour that competes with the very latest mesh designs. This is achieved by their U-Tech design, which has a unique dual-airflow system that maximises performance even at lower charge.
Ohms & Watts: Aspire PockeX Coil Options Explained
The PockeX caters to both MTL and DTL inhale styles, making it a good choice for both nic salts and freebase e-liquids. This pen style vape can also handle High-VG e-liquids with ease, so long as you are using the 0.6ohm coil.
You cannot manually adjust the airflow or wattage of the PockeX, but its smart internal chipset ensures the ideal power is set for your chosen coil, helping to avoid burning the coils, and spoiling the e-liquid.
0.6ohm PockeX Coil
This is the most versatile coil the PockeX has to offer, while originally designed for thicker HVG vape juice, I also found that this coil boosted the flavour of nic salts, similar to specialised RDTL pods found in salt-focussed kits.
When used with HVG vape juice, however, I was really impressed by the smooth hit, thick vapour clouds and bold flavour. Sub-ohm purists might prefer kits that allow customisation and high-wattage, but as a compact potions, the PockeX performed just as well as some specialised box-mods I've used in the past.
1.2ohm PockeX Coil
This is more suited to Mouth To Lung (MTL) vaping. You can use any 50-50 e-liquids with this coil, for a smooth and satisfying MTL vape experience. While still punchy and flavourful, this coil option isn't quite as bold as the 0.6ohm variant. With that said, this option has the longest lifespan and lowest battery consumption, which can be handy if travelling or on-the-go.
Tailoring Your Vaping Experience With The PockeX
The Aspire PockeX has no menus, advanced settings or customisable features. This might make it feel a bit too basic for advanced vapers, but it's performance is amazing and you can get an awful lot from this kit just by switching up your coil choice depending on your vaping preferences.
One drawback I can't let go, however, is the lack of even adjustable airflow. While the medium-inhale resistance works pretty well across the board, being able to adjust it manually would give the PockeX an extra edge when it comes to finding your individual sweet-spot for a perfect inhale.

Usability: Aspire PockeX Battery Life And Charging
The PockeX has a decent-sized 1500mAh battery that can support all-day-vaping in most cases. Even the very latest pod vape kits are only just starting to launch with batteries of this size, which allows the PockeX to compete well.
The battery level is shown through a dual-colour LED light which glows around the power button. Blue represents good charge above 30%, red indicates less than 30% and warns you to charge it up before it dies.
Unfortunately, recharge times are where the PockeX starts to show its age. Despite being upgraded to support USB-C cables instead of it's original micro-USB design, this kit is a lot slower to recharge than most others on the market currently.
The initial charge out of the box can take up to 4 hours. After this, it typically takes around 2 hours to fully recharge.
When compared to more modern kits that now typically feature 2A fast charging in under 40 minutes, this is a notable drawback for the PockeX. Keep this in mind if you are a heavy vaper and are often on-the-go, as if your PockeX runs out of battery, you will need to set aside quite a bit of time to get it charged back up.
Vape Juice Options: Which E-Liquid Works Best With The Aspire PockeX Vape Kit?
The PockeX, while basic, proved to be a versatile kit that works well with 50-50 freebase e-liquids across a range of nicotine strengths. The coils' dual-airflow design does a lot to enhance the less intense flavour concentrates used in typical freebase vape juice like our EDGE Core range.
This device really shines when paired with the rich, bold, double-concentrated flavour of modern nic salt vape juice, like our own EDGE LIQ bar salt style nic salt e-liquid range, when using either the 1.2 or 0.6ohm coils.
With that said, the pockeX stands out from other vape starter kits by being one of the very few that still offer a true sub-ohm coil. This means this kit can use High-VG vape juice with ease when setup with the 0.6ohm coil, and gives vapers the chance to experiment with any type of vape liquid without buying different vape kits.

View allSummary: Should You Buy The Aspire PockeX AIO Vape Kit?
If you want to own a piece of living vape history, then the PockeX is a must-buy. While its slow recharge times feel a little dated, Aspire have truly developed a kit that keeps up with the very latest vape tech in most other areas.
No matter your e-liquid preference, this simple yet effective pen vape delivers excellent performance. It is easy to set up and use, easy to maintain, and it manages to cater to everything from 50-50 to HVG with only two coil options.
If you are a sub-ohm vaper looking for a flashy mod with all the features you can imagine, then the PockeX might feel a little stripped-back. Despite this, HVG vapers could easily have the PockeX as a brilliant portable sub-ohm vape, if their box mods are a little bulky for travel.
If you are looking for a coi& tank-based vaping option for 50-50 e-liquids, however, then the PockeX is still an amazing option, even after nearly 10 years.
This kit's timeless design, simple yet versatile functionality, and premium look and feel have resonated with vapers for many years. This legacy speaks for itself when wondering if you should give it a try. For only £18.99, we feel the investment is well worth it.
