EDGE Oxva Xlim Go 2 Vape Kit Review

Oxva Xlim Go 2 Vape Kit Review

The Xlim Go 2 is Oxva's upgraded budget-friendly option to the well-renowned Xlim series. After a successful run across many devices, including its predecessor, the Oxva Xlim Go, the Xlim series continues to impress with the recently released Xlim Go 2.

With a similar, but improved interface to the Xlim Go, the Xlim 2 boasts a modernised appearance, larger battery and more interactive features than the original. Read on to see my full opinion of this kit, its pros, cons and ultimately, if the kit is right for you!

About The Oxva Xlim Go 2: A Strong Upgrade To A Reliable Kit

Despite being a late-bloomer in the vaping business, founded in 2019, Oxva find themselves as one of the most successful vaping manufacturers worldwide. A substantial extent of this success is owed to the Xlim range, which to this day, continues to thrive in a very competitive industry.

The original Xlim Go was one of Oxva's budget vape options. Working as a strong kit in its own right and perfectly fit for beginner vapers. Because of its accessibility and strong features at its price, it has seen significant success in the global vaping market.

The Oxva Xlim Go 2 was designed with this device in mind, adopting a similar aesthetic, feel, and even price. The inside of the device, however, speaks for itself. New technologies such as battery indication and flavour-boosting tech immediately set it apart.

    What's In The Box?

When you buy the Oxva Xlim Go 2 vape kit you should receive:

    • 1 x 1,500 mAh Xlim Go 2 Device

    Look & Feel

If you're as familiar as I am with the original Oxva Xlim Go device, you'll immediately notice a striking resemblance to it! This isn't to suggest they are one and the same, but should serve as a reminder that this device is an upgrade to the original.

I immediately noticed that the Oxva logo on the device lit up, with a lit starlight decor surrounding it.

Truth is, as far as the aesthetic and physical feel of this device goes, it's not drastically different and in my opinion, it doesn't need to be. It's instantly recognisable as part of the Xlim series, stands out from other devices, and feels great to hold and use as a daily vape device, just like the original.

All in all, it's lightweight, has a wide and tasteful selection of colour and design options and is comfortable to use.

EDGE stock 4 colour variants of the Oxva Xlim Go 2: Metal Blue, Blue Ripple, Pink Ripple and Black Carbon. I've been using the Black Carbon version.

    Functionality

Where the device has had a somewhat aesthetic change, the functionality of the Xlim Go 2 is where the change is most notable. An immediate upgrade is the battery capacity, from 1,000 mAh in the Xlim Go to 1,500 mAh in the Xlim Go 2. The lit-up Oxva logo indicates battery levels.

While the device's wattage is limited to 30W, there are 4 coil options, each assisted by the device's smart functions, which adjust the wattage to match the pod resistance. The Xlim Go 2 is buttonless and inhale-activated, so I found it easy to insert the pod and adjust the airflow as necessary.

On one side of the device, an airflow slider allows for MTL or RDTL vaping adjustments. You can tailor this to your tastes by choosing your e-liquid. On the other side, a USB-C port is conveniently placed, allowing 2A fast charging.

I tried both freebase and nic salts with this kit, and both worked a treat. I'd advise against using high-VG e-liquid, however, due to the wattage.

Getting Set Up: How To Use Xlim Go Cartridges

The Oxva Xlim Go 2 arrives with a 0.8ohm coil. This coil works well with both freebase and nic salt e-liquid, meaning you'll have no trouble using it out of the box regardless of what you use. After initially unboxing, I settled for this coil and found the EDGE LIQ Cherry Ice nic salt worked perfectly.

The Xlim Go 2 was designed with beginners in mind, with a quite simple side fill port to fill:

  1. Open the side fill port located on the side of the pod
  2. Insert your e-liquid bottle into the filling port
  3. Squeeze the bottle gently to fill the Xlim pod - take care as to not overfill
  4. Click the fill port back into place
  5. Leave for a minute to allow absorption

Ohms & Watts: Xlim Go 2 Coils Explained

The Oxva Xlim Go 2 is great for MTL and RDTL vaping, with a plethora of coil resistances available. From 0.4 to 1.2ohms, the device is perfect for 50/50 e-liquid. Where it works with any coil, we would suggest freebase e-liquid for the higher ranges, and nic salt for lower - we will highlight each coil in more detail below.

You don't need to manually adjust wattage with the Xlim Go 2. By simply inserting the pod, your device will match the wattage to the pod you insert, ensuring you have the best experience with each coil.

The pod options are as follows:

0.4ohm Xlim Go Coil

The lowest resistance for this device, and an ideal companion for nic salts, 0.4ohms will provide the strongest flavour and a lessened throat-hit. I'd suggest this coil for prior disposable vape users, as it provides very similar flavour strength and vaping experience - especially with the buttonless interface.

0.6ohm Xlim Go Coil

Still a lower rating, best equipped for nic salt e-liquids, 0.6 still provides a lot of flavour and a smooth throat hit, though slightly inclining closer to a traditional vaping experience. I'd suggest it to be the most popular among nic salt users, and a safe starting point if you're looking to use nic salts, without going straight to the strongest setting.

0.8ohm Xlim Go Coil

The standard coil strength that arrives with the device, this coil worked well with both freebase and nic salt e-liquid. I can see why devices arrive with this coil measurement, as it's a great bridge between all 50/50 e-liquids, offering equal parts of a strong flavour and medium-strength throat hit. I'd suggest using this coil out of the box with whichever e-liquid type you choose, and if necessary, move up or down depending on your preference for flavour or throat-hit.

1.2ohm Xlim Go Coil

Best equipped for freebase e-liquid, 1.2ohms will provide a stronger throat hit, similar to that of smoking, which many vapers tend to prefer. I found flavour was impactful amongst some of our Core freebase e-liquids, though not as impactful amongst nic salts, which in my experience, better suit the sub-ohm ratings.

Tailoring Your Vaping Experience With The Xlim Go 2

As far as beginner options go, the Oxva Xlim Go 2 is a great fit. The option to adjust airflow allows you to tailor your hit, opening the horizons to more advanced kits - that being if you're interested in them. Otherwise, with a range of coil resistances available, I had a lot of wiggle room to try different e-liquid types and strengths to see what worked best. If you're a new vaper, or are simply looking to broaden your horizons, I find this device has enough flexibility to try and experiment with different options.

That being said, if you are looking for a more advanced device with more interactive features, such as manual wattage, screen settings and more, check out our other refillable vape kits.

Usability: Oxva Xlim Go 2 Battery Level

An immediate upgrade is in the battery capacity from 1,000 mAh in the Xlim Go, to 1,500 in the Xlim Go 2. This is indicated on a new light display on the front of the device (as pictured,) which communicates battery life through a 3 colour interface:

  • Red = 0% - 20%
  • Blue = 20% - 60%
  • Green = 60% - 100%

The battery charges relatively fast, going from flat to full within 45 minutes. The indicator levels are also quite reasonable in my opinion. The choice of red at 20% gives enough warning to signal a charge is needed soon, and equally, it's good to know the device is just over halfway when I see green.

Vape Juice Options: Which E-Liquid Works Best With The Oxva Xlim Go 2 Vape Kit?

The wide range of coil choices allows the Xlim Go 2 to freebase and nic salt e-liquids.

Though in equal measures the device is suited to both, having 3 sub-ohm coil options makes the device great for any e-liquid from our EDGE LIQ nic salt range.

For freebase, 0.8ohms or 1.2ohms will work great with the Core range, such as Blackcurrant Menthol, which I used with 0.8ohms. I found they worked very well.

High-VG e-liquids won't be compatible with the Xlim Go 2. We'd suggest trying a higher wattage device if looking to try them.

Summary: Should You Buy The Oxva Xlim Go 2 Vape Kit?

For its price and performance, I'd confidently recommend the device all-round, and most especially to beginner vapers.

It also greatly benefits from a wide range of pod options, meaning you'll have choices if you're unsure, or all grounds covered if you like a lower or higher resistance coil - most devices at this price don't have coils below 0.6 ohms.

At a price point of £11.99, it's very hard to nitpick anything that the Oxva Xlim Go 2 lacks. There are certainly better vape kits available that can do more, but if you're a vaper who doesn't want to be overwhelmed with a huge device and unnecessary features, you'd be well-suited to the Xlim Go 2. It ticks all boxes for a standard vape kit, delivers great flavour and has a good selection of pod choices.
