About The Elf Bar ELFX Pro: A Refillable Pod Vape Kit From The Kings Of Disposable Vaping
Elf Bar have become one of the most instantly recognised brands in modern vaping. This is owed largely to their immensely popular disposable vapes, which quickly dominated the market following their initial launch and continued to command a massive share of the total disposable vape sales in the UK. That is, up until disposable vapes were banned in the UK on the 1st June 2025.
The aforementioned ban denotes the controversy that has surrounded brands like Elf Bar, with their products being at the heart of both a youth vaping and environmental crisis. With the sale of single-use vapes now illegal here in Britain, brands like Elf have been forced to shift their R&D towards refillable, rechargeable vape kits, more akin to the majority of long-standing brands like VooPoo & Vaporesso, in order to remain relevant and protect their market position.
Elf Bar's initial attempts at this saw the introduction of pre-filled pod kits like the ELFA series, which bridged the gap between their now-relegated 600 puff disposables and what we see today in the ELFX Pro. The latter is of course the device we are reviewing in this blog, and marks the biggest departure from Elf Bar's disposable roots seen to date.
While initially sceptical, owing to controversy and issues of quality that plagued Elf Bar in the past, we were pleasantly surprised to see the ELFX pro deliver a huge amount for it's affordable price of £20.99, boasting all the features found in leading brands' modern pod vape kits, with solid build quality and a straightforward user interface that offers enough versatility to appease both new vapers and veterans alike.

Look & Feel
Elf Bar has certainly put effort into making the ELFX Pro feel a lot more premium than anything they have produced before. Gone are the throwaway plastic vibes, with the housing being made of sturdy yet lightweight metal, with their "vegan" leather adding a nice upmarket touch, and enhanced grip to boot.
The ELFX Pro fits neatly in the palm of your hand, and the buttons are well-fitted with no rattles or rough edges. The colourways are vibrant and funky, with plenty of options to choose from.
All in all the ELFX pro looks and feels sleek, stylish, and surprisingly premium vs its predecessors.

Functionality
I found the ELFX Pro to be surprisingly simple to use with clear and easy-to-navigate settings, while boasting enough versatility to satisfy even my particular preferences as a more experienced vaper.
You can quickly switch between a battery-life focused eco mode and flavour-enhancing turbo mode with one click of the function button on the side of the device, all supported with brightly coloured infographics on the screen. Regardless of your preferred mode, by holding the same button, you can access more detailed settings that allow for custom wattage settings, which let me find the ideal balance between flavour, vapour and battery life.
The ability to lock the device is a nice touch too, for anyone worried about accidentally firing the kit in a pocket or bag, as this kit is inhale-activated but also has a manual firing button that could be accidentally pressed if not careful as it is located on the side just above the function button.
Overall, the ELFX Pro is easy to navigate, and didn't take long to get set up just how I wanted it. If you are a new vaper, the device will auto-adjust the initial power output according to your chosen ELFX Pod coil, if variable wattage feels a little daunting at first.
Getting Set Up: How To Use ELFX Vape Pods
Right out of the box, you will have the choice of either a 0.6ohm or 0.8ohm refillable vape pod. Elf Bar note that the built-in coils are dual mesh which should translate to more efficient heating and flavour delivery, with a long lifespan depending on your chosen vape juice - I personally found this kit works best with nic salt e-liquids, which is in-keeping with the brand's disposable vape legacy.
ELFX Pods are top-filling and follow a timeless design adopted by the majority of competing refillable pod vapes out there.
- Remove the pod from your ELFX Pro battery (if installed)
- Pull back the silicone bung
- Pop the top of your e-liquid bottle into the filling port
- Gently squeeze the bottle to fill the ELFX pod, taking care not to overfill
- Put the bung back in place to seal the port
- Put the pod back into your battery, allow it to absorb for a minute or two, and away you go.
If you are setting up the ELFX Pro for the first time out of the box, and see a "check atomiser" warning when you insert your new ELFX pod, youshould ensure you have removed the protective tabs covering the contact points on the base of the pod. ELFX pods are designed to be leak-free, and while using it I found this to be largely true, with only minimal liquid transfer forming after a solid week of vaping.
The flavour delivery from these ELFX pods was a real standout however, outclassing all but the very best competitor devices being sold for a similar price. Only Vaporesso's COREX mesh coils are comparable in my experience, which is high praise considering how staggeringly popular their Xros vape kit series has been in recent years.
Ohms & Watts: ELFX Pro Pod Options Explained
The ELFX Pro caters to both MTL and RDTL inhale styles, making it a good choice for both nic salts and freebase e-liquids. In a pinch you could get away with High-VG e-liquids too, thanks to the surprisingly generous 45-watt maximum power output and sub-ohm coils, but it is really designed for 50-50 e-liquid options.
Remember, power settings have a big impact on the overall vaping experience, so it is worth experimenting to find your individual ideal, just take care not to over-vape at high power as it can make you cough, burn the coils, and spoil the pod.
With two pod potions to choose from with different ohm ratings for the built-in coils, below I will explain my experience with each so you can make an informed choice:
0.6ohm ELFX Pod
This is the coil I preferred of the two options available, and is perfect for Restricted Direct To Lung vaping. The ohms of this coil are lower, meaning you can ramp up your ELFX Pro's power, to get big flavour and big vape cloud production also. This option is the closest to a like-for-like disposable vaping style experience - ideal for vapers looking for an alternative product following the UK ban on single-use vapes. This ELFX Pod option makes the most of the device's Turbo Mode.
I found this option works best at 25-35 watts, with the max 45 watts being a little too harsh for my taste.
0.8ohm ELFX Pod
This is more suited to Mouth To Lung (MTL) vaping. This pod is perfect for MTL vaping between 10-20 watts. You can use any 50-50 e-liquids with this coil, for a smooth and satisfying MTL vape experience. While still punchy and flavourful, this coil option isn't quite as bold as the 0.6ohm variant. With that said, this option has the longest lifespan and when paired with the device's Eco Mode offers the longest lifespan and lowest battery consumption which might be handy if travelling or on-the-go.
I found this option performed well from 10 to around 25 watts, with higher settings feeling a little too extreme for the coil.
Tailoring Your Vaping Experience: How To Navigate The ELFX Pro Vape Kit's Settings
The ELFX Pro pod vape kit features a clear and relatively intuitive menu system. As I've mentioned before, it boasts customisation that will appeal to experienced vapers, while being simple enough to not alienate new vapers.
The HD screen is bright and colourful, and while I'm not convinced all the graphic elements are needed, bordering on flashy rather than functional, there are plenty of vapers out there who will enjoy its funky style.
The device manual included in the box will guide you through everything you need to know, but you can explore the dropdowns below where I explain how to customise your ELFX Pro to your personal preferences:

The ELFX Pro has two power modes: Turbo and Eco. Switching between the two is as simple as clicking the function button on the side of the kit once.
As previously mentioned, Turbo boosts the power and ramp-up speed, heating the coil faster and to a higher temperature to deliver bolder flavour, bigger clouds and a more powerful overall 'hit'.
Eco heats the coil more slowly, but puts less strain on the battery. It still delivers excellent flavour, just not with the intensity of Turbo mode. The trade-off is that this mode preserves your coil lifespan and battery charge.

To access the more in-depth settings menu for the ELFX Pro vape kit, you should press and hold the function button, which will open up the settings menu on the HD screen.
The menu includes:
Lock - which simply locks the device so it cannot be fired accidentally when not in use.
Power - where you can customise the wattage output of the device.
System - where you can reset your puff count or do a total factory reset of the device - handy if you are new to vaping and are experimenting with settings only to find you do not know how to get it back to a basic level of functionality!

- Hold the function button to open the settings menu
- Select 'Power'
- Use the buttons to select your preferred power level
- Hold the function button to set the power and return to the menu

The ELFX Pro supports both inhale activation and the use of the manual fire button on the side of the device - you don't need to set this up, simply vape how you prefer.

To get out of the menu, simply press the fire or function button and it should revert back to the display screen ready for you to vape with your new settings applied.
Usability: ELFX Pro Battery Life & Charging
The ELFX Pro vape kit has a 1200mAh battery - while not terrible, this was a notable con of the vape kit overall. The flashy graphics on the large screen, especially when using the 0.6ohm ELFX pod on Turbo mode put quite a lot of strain on the battery, and I noticed myself needing to charge more frequently while using these settings. I am a heavier vaper, and found with this combination of settings the battery would not quite last me a full day.
Elf Bar has clearly thought about this drawback however, and compensation comes in the form of 2A rapid charging via USB-C. The recharge time is as advertised: within 30 minutes at least 80% of the battery is replenished, meaning downtime was still kept to a minimum even at the most intense power settings.
Don't let the above put you off however, as if you are sensible and set the device up accordingly, it can easily support at least a full day of even my heavy vaping. I was able to achieve this by using the Eco mode at a reduced wattage output. The 0.8ohm coil made the best of these settings and still delivered excellent flavour and vapour, leaving me more than satisfied.
Vape Juice Options: Which E-Liquid Works Best With The ELFX Pro Vape Kit?
The ELFX Pro proved to be a versatile kit that works well with 50-50 freebase e-liquids across a range of nicotine strengths, albeit at slightly reduced power settings to manage throat hit. The coils' dual-mesh design and proprietary "QUAQ" flavour boosting tech does a lot to enhance the less intense flavour concentrates used in typical freebase vape juice like our EDGE Core range.
With that said, this device really shines when paired with the rich, bold, double-concentrated flavour of modern nic salt vape juice, which is no surprise considering this is the very same style of e-liquid made famous in their original 600 puff disposable Elf Bars. Using our own EDGE LIQ bar salt style nic salt e-liquid range, I enjoyed some of the best flavour definition and intensity I've ever known since starting vaping over 10 years ago - you can really tell this is what the ELFX Pro is designed to work best with, and I highly recommend you do the same if choosing this kit.

If you are in the market for a new vape kit, and prioritise convenience and flavour above all else, then you should absolutely buy the ELFX Pro.
Despite my initial scepticism of Elf Bar and their track-record of controversy, I can't deny they have turned a corner with this device. The ELFX Pro represents their single best product currently on the market as of writing this review (July 2025) and is a true showcase of how far vaping tech has come in terms of delivering amazing flavour.
It is stylish, practical, and above all else, easy to use and delivers an incredible vaping experience. The only notable drawbacks are the battery size and lifespan, which fall a little short at higher power settings and when using Turbo mode, even these have been compensated for with 2A rapid charging and robust dual-mesh coils that handle even sweeter e-liquid flavours without degrading too quickly.
This pod vape kit is a natural choice for disposable vapers looking for an alternative from a familiar brand, and is equally as practical for both beginner and experienced vapers alike; the ELFX Pro is a pocket-sized powerhouse that excels at almost everything it does.
